This collection of work is inspired by my love of collage and includes original paper collages, individual wall decals, wall decal collages and limited edition prints.
It started with Bay Area photographer and printer Rob Reiter printing small versions of the photos he was taking of my original drawings as a way to measure the quality and accuracy of the photography. At first I saved them in a flat file but as they accumulated it led me to seeing them as a resource and then to making collages. Using my own imagery gave me the freedom to fully explore and it has become a process integral to my practice. It allows me to continue to play with the characters and imagery I have spent hours getting to know through drawing. The collages here are constructed from archival inkjet prints and re-positionable wall decals. I hand cut the individual animals, plants and wood grain patterns and play with different groupings, invert, repeat and embellish them to explore new relationships and create new stories.
I call them Reconfigurations.
